Monday 19 February

The adult Bonaparte's Gull again late afternoon in Cardwell Bay, Gourock.
125 Greenland White-fronted Geese with approximately 3,000 Pink-footed Geese leaving roost at Loch Lomond.
Four Green Sandpipers and three Woodcock at BAE Systems, Bishopton, also two Jays.
A pre-roost flock of 12 Ring-necked Parakeets feeeding on cherry tree buds at the war memorial in Victoria Park, also at least another two calling near the small pond.
Six Bramblings coming to the feeders in a Hollows Avenue, Foxbar garden.
A female Brambling in a Muirlees Crescent, Milngavie garden.
Inland wader return was noted at Watermeetings, Elvanfoot of one Ringed Plover, a Curlew and 18 Lapwings.

The ringed Mediterranean Gull (White 3K58) seen at Cardwell Bay on 3 February, is older than originally thought, nearly 16 years old with an interesting history. Since it was ringed in Antwerp as a pullus in 2002, it has done a fair bit of travelling.  That includes visits to Great Western Retail Park in 2003/4, Northumberland in 2011, Maidens in 2012, East Yorkshire in 2016 and Musselburgh a year ago. Late news for 18 February
An unconfirmed report of a Black-necked Grebe at Lanark (no further details).
During the monthly WeBS count in addition to yesterday's records off Ardmore and Greenock, a Little Gull at Dalmuir sewage outfall in the morning, a Great Northern Diver in the Gare Loch off Shandon and single Greenshanks at Erskine and Leven mouth.

Sunday 18 February

The adult Bonaparte's Gull arriving in Cardwell Bay at 1715 hrs, also an adult Little Gull and an adult Mediterranean Gull; offshore between Greenock and Port Glasgow 27 Red-throated Divers.
Little Egret at Ardmore, also seven Slavonian Grebes and 25 Red-throated Divers.
The adult Ring-billed Gull still at Strathclyde Loch, flying south at 1611 hrs.
A female Smew on Barr Loch in the morning, also a ringtail Hen Harrier and 27 Whooper Swans.
Still eight Bramblings coming to the feeders in a Hollows Avenue, Foxbar garden.

Saturday 17 February

Three Iceland Gulls (an adult and two 1st-winters) at the Roughrigg Reservoir gull roost.
An adult Little Gull still in Cardwell Bay, Gourock (no time given), also an adult Mediterranean Gull late afternoon, but no sign of the Bonaparte's.
Still eight Bramblings in a Hollows Avenue, Foxbar garden, and one in Muirlees Crescent, Milngavie.

Friday 16 February

The adult Bonaparte's Gull still in Cardwell Bay, Gourock, also an adult Mediterranean Gull.
The female Smew back on Barr Loch.
Two Green Sandpipers at Baron's Haugh.
Two Green Sandpipers at BAE Systems, Bishopton, also a large flock of 170 Siskins feeding on larch.
Three Scaup (two drakes) on Ryat Linn Reservoir with 200 Tufted Ducks, also three Stonechats along the edge of Waulkmill Glen Reservoir.
A female Hen Harrier and mixed flock of 500 Greenland White-fronted and Pink-footed Geese at Hillheaad Farm, Croftamie.
Three drake Mandarin Ducks at Balloch.
1,220 Pink-footed Geese at West Fulton Farm, Linwood.
Still ten Bramblings in a Hollows Avenue, Foxbar garden.

Late news for 12 February
The Long-tailed Duck at Lochwinnoch was picked up in the car park of Loch House and taken into care by Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue who hope to release it soon. 

Thursday 15 February

The adult Bonaparte's Gull ( also present in the morning) still in Cardwell Bay, Gourock, also two adult Little Gulls and an adult Mediterranean Gull at 1630 hrs.
A 2nd-winter Iceland Gull at the mouth of the River Leven, Dumbarton.
The female Smew at the south end of Castle Semple Loch, also 70 Goldeneye.
76 Bar-tailed Godwits in Skate Bay, Great Cumbrae.

An adult Little Gull and adult Mediterranean Gull in Cardwell Bay, Gourock.
A 1st-winter Glaucous Gull and an adult Iceland Gull at the gull roost on Roughrigg Reservoir, Airdrie.

An immature male Long-tailed Duck still on Aird Meadow, and the female Smew back on Barr Loch, also 233 Teal flushed by an Otter.

An adult Little Gull and an adult Mediterranean Gull in Cardwell Bay, Gourock.

Today's highlights amongst the 2000+ birds at Blackstoun Farm included a Merlin, 16 Twite, 21 Bramblings and still 400 Skylarks.
A single Jack Snipe in the marsh at Barnsford Bridge.

Monday 5 February

At low tide, three adult Mediterranean Gulls in Lunderston Bay where there were two adults (including the ringed individual) and a 1st-winter present yesterday, also yesterday another adult in Cardwell Bay. Due to Chris McInerny's scrutiny of these birds, he can now confirm that there are at least seven different Mediterranean Gulls in the Gourock area, six adults and a 1st-winter.
The Mediterranean Gull reported at Cardwell Bay on Saturday and Lunderston Bay on Sunday was ringed as a third calendar year bird in Antwerpen, Belgium on 29 April 2006, indicating that it is almost 14 years old. Thanks to Brian Beer for passing on this information.

A 1st-winter Iceland Gull in Ballochmartin Bay, Great Cumbrae.
The adult Ring-billed Gull still at Strathclyde Loch, but flying off to roost elsewhere, and a 1st-winter Iceland Gull at the roost.
The female Smew back at south end of Barr Loch, also a ringtail Hen Harrier and 22 Whooper Swans.
17 Barnacle Geese north over Sliddery toward Kilpatrick, Arran
Two female Merlins chasing a large flock of finches, including four Twite, seven Brambling, 400 Skylarks and 400 Chaffinches at Blackstoun Farm.

An adult male Hen Harrier hunting on two occasions over Aird Meadow and a ringtail Hen Harrier at south end of Barr Loch.
