Wednesday 2 January

Two adult Mediterranean Gulls at Dalmarnock Water Treatment Works early afternoon, the red ringed bird, previously seen at Richmond Park and white ringed Dutch bird seen at Princes’s Dock, the latter later at Richmond Park.
Both the 3rd-winter Yellow legged Gull and 2nd-winter Iceland Gull pre-roosted on Balgray Reservoir, appearing at 1530 hrs, then flying off with other gulls at 1600 hrs; nearby, the female Scaup still on Ryat Linn Reservoir.
Two Tree Sparrows, at least 18 Yellowhammers and 30 Stock Doves at Blackstoun Farm.
Still ten Tree Sparrows visiting a Cumbernauld garden.
Late news for 1 January
Ten Bramblings at Glebe Farm, Kirk o’ Shotts.
Unusually a Seal on River Clyde at Dalmarnock.

The adult Ring-billed Gull still at Strathclyde Loch.
A Green Sandpiper at Carbarns Pool and a Jack Snipe still showing well in the area, also the 1st-winter leucistic Herring Gull (seen earlier at Muirhouse Road, Motherwell) flying over in the direction of Strathclyde Loch at 1453 hrs.

Sunday 30 December

The 3rd-winter Yellow-legged Gull (present from 1400 hrs at least) and a 2nd-winter Iceland Gullroosting again at Balgray Reservoir, also ten White Wagtails with the Pied.
An adult Mediterranean Gull, ringed in the Netherlands as a chick in 2010, at Prince’s Dock, Glasgow, seen last winter in Knightswood Park.
A Jack Snipe in the Carbarns area, also 30 Whooper Swans briefly before flying upstream mid afternoon.
14 Bar-tailed Godwits at Ballochmartin Bay, Great Cumbrae  and two Red-throated Dives in West Bay.
A Peregrine chasing pigeons at Hampden Park, Glasgow, later another or the same with kill on high rise block in the Gorbals.

Saturday 29 December

Two adult Mediterranean Gulls, viewed from the walkway, on the River Clyde at Dalmarnock Water Treatment Works.
An adult Mediterranean Gull with a red ring at Richmond Park, Glasgow.
Up to four Jack Snipe at Shieldhill Farm, Eaglesham, also still a single Twite; at dusk seven Woodcock leaving their roost and a probable Long-eared Owl.
Ten Tree Sparrows coming to the feeders in a Cumbernauld garden.

Friday 28 December

The adult Ring-billed Gull still at Strathclyde Loch, at times coming quite close to the car parks by the Watersports Centre especially when bread was being tossed.
Little Egret flyng low past Doughend Hole, Great Cumbrae, in the direction of Portachur Point, possibly heading to the mainland; and 23 Bar-tailed Godwit at Skate Bay.

An adult Iceland Gull and three adult Mediterranean Gulls at Dalmarnock Sewage Treatment Works mid-afternoon (NS 6162)

The “ Iceland” Gull at Heritage Park, East Kilbride has been identified as a leucistic Herring Gull. Apologies for the confusion.

Two immature Iceland Gulls at the Roughrigg Reservoir, Airdrie gull roost
An immature Iceland Gull at Heritage Loch, East Kilbride.
Little Egret feeding briefly in the channel in front of RSPB Lochwinnoch visitor centre, before flying off on the direction of Barr loch.
Two Green Sandpipers and 25 Whooper Swans at Carbarns Pool, early afternoon, also  Jack Snipe in the area.

A Barn Owl flying across A726 at the Red Smiddy roundabout, near Erskine at 2130 hrs.

Monday 24 December

The adult Ring-billed Gull back on cue for its fifth winter at Strathclyde Loch, on photographic evidence now believed to be the adult which appeared in 2008.
At least three Tree Sparrows still at Ardmore.

An adult Mediterranean Gull in Cardwell Bay, Gourock.
Five Jack Snipe (three ringed) at Cathkin Marsh SWT Reserve.
A Jack Snipe showing well at Carbarns, and a Green Sandpiper at RSPB Baron’s Haugh.
A female Scaup on Hogganfield Loch.

Saturday 22 December

The 3rd-winter Yellow-legged Gull and 2nd-winter Iceland Gull still at the Balgray Reservoir gull roost from 1515 hrs, also two Jack Snipe and 40 Goosanders; nearby, the female Scaup still on Ryat Linn Reservoir.
240 Greenland White-fronted Geese at Hillhead Farm, near Croftamie.

Friday 21 December
    Unusually five Tree Sparrows at the gatehouse cottage at Ardmore car park, also four Rock Pipits.
    Three Mandarin Ducks (two drakes) on River Leven at Balloch.
    A Peregrine on its favourite perch on the Erskine Bridge.
    1,500 corvids, mainly Jackdaws going to their roost on Hogganfield Loch island.

Wednesday 19 December
The 3rd-winter Yellow-legged Gull and 2nd-winter Iceland Gull at the Balgray Reservoir roost, also two Jack Snipe.
210 Greenland White-fronted Geese at Hillhead Farm, near Croftamie, also four Barnacle Geese with Pink-footed Geese at Pirniehall.

The 3rd-winter Yellow-legged Gull again at Balgray Reservoir pre-roost, flying off west at 1510 hrs, later a 2nd-winter Iceland Gull, and now a very high count for the area of 69 Cormorants; nearby, the female Scaup still on Ryat Linn Reservoir and four Gadwall on Waulkmill Glen Reservoir.
A Green Sandpiper on River Clyde at Centenary Hide, RSPB Baron’s Haugh in the morning, later another or the same on the haugh early afternoon.
Two male Hen Harriers and a Barn owl at Barr Loch, RSPB Lochwinnoch late afternoon, also 23 Whooper Swans
A single Twite at Shieldhill Farm, near Eaglesham, also nine Woodcock leaving their roost at dusk.

First report of Black-headed Gull (EY20811) ringed as a chick at Elvanfoot colony (gas site) on 24/06/2014 from Preston Dock, Lancashire on 09/12/2018.

An excellent local count of 44 Bar-tailed Godwits in Ardmore South Bay with four Knot and a Grey Plover, also the hybrid American x Eurasian Wigeon still present.
